By November 8, 2021January 17th, 2022Investment

Welcome to Citywire Wealth Manager’s Top 100, our annual showcase of the UK’s most influential fund selectors.

Now in its 10th year, once again we have conducted an in-depth, quantitative, nationwide search not just for those who control the most assets, but also those who are reshaping the industry.

There were a record number of applicants for this year’s Top 100, with household names and familiar faces alongside a series of new entrants. Each firm featured runs at least £500m in assets under management.

Michael Rosenthal
Chief Investment Officer, Signia
Group AUM: £1.5bn
Specialism: Absolute Return Investing

Rosenthal has more than 25 years of investment experience across North America, Europe, Japan and Asia Pacific. He joined Signia as chief investment officer in 2013 from Amundi Alternative Investments, which specialises in absolute returns, and where he had spent 11 years as global co-head of investment and head of the London office. During his tenure, the hedge fund AUM rose from $1bn (£734m) to $28bn. Before this, he worked as a portfolio manager at JP Morgan, where he began his investment career in 1997.

There are 70 actively managed funds on Signia’s buy list, accounting for 80% of the firm’s assets. Rosenthal says the breadth and depth of the buy list had increased over the past 12 months. For a fund or manager to be included, a minimum one-year track record is required, ideally with a fund size of at least £75m.
